A theatre renovation required business as usual

What did we do?

  • Signing master plan
  • User Experience mapping
  • Temporary signing suite
  • All language communication
  • Custom symbols
  • Rapid prototyping
  • Production specification
  • Installation
  • 12 month life

Developed and rolled over over 4 weeks this temporary wayfinding system needed to connect students and theatre patrons to temporary bathroom and catering facilities across a vast space from parking, theatre to bathroom and catering amenity.

The brief required a symbol based solution, no words, and colour scheme that stood out yet complimented the Frankston Campus’ Brutalist architecture nested in strong and towering gum trees.

We started seeing the site through the users eyes and mapped out a scheme that captured sight lines, marked choices and destinations, utilising existing paths, poles, fences and structures.

A new pole signing system was prototyped and made, along with pavement stickers, vinyl decals and corflute signing.

The signing system was installed in record breaking time – two days (including a rain out, or two)
